What happens when you definitively decide, once and for all, that you are going to live up to your fullest potential?
There is something so amazing and powerful about deciding firmly, once and for all, that you are going to live up to your fullest potential.
The first thing that happens is, when you truly mean it, the Universe will begin to rearrange itself for you. It will line up the people, places, and events necessary for you to live up that potential. You only need walk through the door. This is where ‘chance favors the prepared mind’ comes into play. Once you’ve really made up your mind then it’s not if, it’s when.
However, the second thing that happens is, your unhealed emotional body, also known as the ‘painbody’ will come alive to test you.
This is the beginning of the epic battle of David and Goliath. The painbody, which is all of your suppressed emotional charges, coalesced into a singular entity with its own personality, will attempt to sabotage your efforts at change. It has access to all of your compulsions, emotional triggers, and weaknesses and you can believe it will attempt to exploit them to its advantage.
The painbody survives off of emotional pain and suffering. If you were to suddenly elevate yourself to a new level of love, life, and success, then you would also be breaking out of your comfort zone. The comfort zone is where your painbody thrives and subsists.
What to do?
First, be prepared. Know that when you definitively decide to live up to your highest calling that you are potentially activating the shadow part of yourself simultaneously and decide that you will persist no matter what.
Second, be ready with emotional integration as your weapon against the painbody. You engage with this by surrendering into any emotion that arises after you’ve made your decision. Allow it to burn through you by surrendering deeply and allowing your body to organically express itself. Any random event that deeply triggers you after you’ve made this decision, you can bet, is the painbody at work. It’s not random, it’s calculated. Surrender into the emotions that arise as a result of this trigger. Try to do this for a 5 minute sitting and then move on.
Third, expect the best, but be prepared for a war. If you’ve battled any sort of emotional turmoil or any sort of self sabotage mechanism or have unfulfilled dreams that somehow you have not been able to achieve then, just know that you may have to walk through the fire. But, make up your mind to do so!
Right here, right now. Make up your mind that, no matter what, you will do whatever it takes to succeed. No retreat, no surrender!
Mini Emotional Integration Exercise For When You Get Triggered
If you suddenly feel triggered, fear, anxiety, anger, grief, resentment, jealousy, what have you, then you can go into it and integrate it on the spot.
-
Quickly find a place where you can be alone and undisturbed for 5 minutes.
-
Take two deep breaths in and exhale.
-
Now, ask yourself: Could I allow myself to welcome this to come up to the surface and be here with me now as best as I can?
-
Surrender into it as it arises, as deeply as you can.
-
Now, after you’ve allowed it to be there for anywhere from 30 seconds to 2 minutes, then ask yourself: Now, could I let this go?
-
Now, take a look inside and see how you’re feeling. What thoughts, feelings, images, or emotions are you experiencing? Do not mentalize it by cataloging them, but instead simply become aware. Now repeat the process 2 or 3 more times.
-
After you’ve done this for 2 to 3 cycles, shake it off, take a deep breath, and return to whatever you’re doing. Done successfully, you can integrate the emotional triggering and suppressed emotional charge on the spot.
Obviously, for deeper work I always recommend having someone facilitate it for you. However, one can begin to learn how to do this on their own for themselves as well. It’s one of the most rewarding gifts you can ever give yourself.
True freedom is never that far away.
